The pink "petals" are actually bracts, which later reveal small yellow true flowers inside. The pink color is shading to white or almost transparent towards the tip creating an impressive porcelain-like effect. This is the longest lasting cut-flower of all Etlingeras.A beautiful ginger plant with attractive foliage producing tulip-shaped plastic pink flowers on basal stems. The undersides of the leaves are a darker green that is retained even when the leaves are mature. The unusual inflorescences are a showy plastic pink color dotted with neon yellow.Planting GuideStep 1. Soak the torch ginger seed in water for at least eight hours.Step 2. Pour the potting mix into the planter and soak with water. Allow to drain for 10 minutes.Step 3. Plant the seed 3/4 of an inch deep in the potting soil.Step 4. Cover the pot with plastic wrap and place it in a sunny location where the temperature remains 75 degrees F or warmer.Step 5. Check the pot frequently to make sure the soil isn't drying out. Also check for mold. If a white powdery substance appears on the soil, poke small holes in the plastic to improve air circulation around the soil.Step 6. Germination should occur in 30 days. Once it does, remove the plastic wrap and keep the seedling in a bright, warm area of the home.
